Help Morico get back on his feet

On July 1st, 2016, Morico and his wife Maria were simply enjoying a night at the movies.  After the movie while walking to their car, they became victims of a senseless, spontaneous, vicious act that ended as soon as it started.  Gun shots rang out and Rico lay there, covered in his own blood until paramedics arrived.

That random act of violence has landed Rico in the SICU fighting for his life.  He has lost several vital organs and has had several more surgically repaired.  While we are all grateful that he wasn't called home that night, it will forever change his and his family's lives.

Because the investigation is on-going, it is unclear what, if any, the motive behind this madness was.  The animal who almost took Rico's life is a stranger and may never be known until/if he is caught.  It will then be determined why he felt the need to shoot an unarmed man in front of his wife.

Rico's family is not focusing on this aspect.  Instead, we are all praying and focusing on the best possible outcome for his health and well being.  His mother, father, wife, children and many other family and friends have spent countless hours and sleepless nights in the hospital to pray for him and offer support for him and for one another.

Unfortunately, the mortgage, utility companies and of course the hospital (estimated at $10,000 per night), will not accept support and prayer for payment.  Not to mention, the general cost of living and taking care of a family.  It will be awhile until he is able to get back on his feet and earn a living to pay these things.  He will need his wife next to him to help with daily activities that we all take for granted.

Rico's prognosis is promising.  It will be a long journey but he will make it.  He is one of the strongest, spiritualy, mentally and physically, people that I know.  He is always willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that his wife and kids have what they need.  He is always the first person to stand up for you and offer any help that he can give, whether it's a simple conversation or a hard days work, he is always there for everyone.

It is our turn to be there for him now!
