Help Revitalize the Berry Center
Donation protected
The Berry Children's Center (http://www.theberrycenter.org/), is a non-profit organization, in Augusta, Georgia, that serves the community by offering services to those with developmental disabilities. Their driving mantra is, "there is ability beyond disability," and they live that mantra each day by providing a safe, fun environment for persons in the community who are developmentally disabled. The Berry Children's Center has three simple rules: work hard, play even harder, and never forget to make time for plenty of hugs! They cultivate a family environment that truly lives up to its values.
Since the Berry Children's Center is a non-profit organization, it strives to spend its dollars and resources on those it serves; consequently, money and resources for maintenance, upkeep, upgrades, and revitalization projects is virtually non-existent. To that end, members of a local Navy Cyber Unit, stationed at Fort Gordon, several DoD civilians, and Air Force personnel have devoted their time volunteering by doing landscaping, mowing, and some maintenance, but now it's time to revitalize this wonderful institution. Here is a video of the grounds as they stand now, prior to revitalization: https://youtu.be/fYm2VLZjWws
What do we want to do? We would like to completely re-landscape the grounds by removing weeds, trash, and other debris, replacing it with decorative stone or brick shavings. We want to re-seed areas of grass that has died off, re-pave the worn-down parking lot, add some picnic tables and a gazebo to the back play area, construct a rain cover for the front of the building and wheel-chair ramps, and build a brick enclosure, with an overhang, at the location where the children wait to load and unload for their field trips around town.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, is appreciated. This will be a massive undertaking and we'd like to finish it before winter hits. To that end, we are setting an aggressive goal of October 30th, so that it can be ready for a Halloween event.
