Medevac Max to U of Iowa Hospitals
Hello,
I am Max & I live in Costa Rica! I have been sick on & off since I was born. I have a hard time breathing, this time it is because of a viral infection. My Mom and Dad -Jessica & McKinley- just figured I would be healthy like my big sister Florencia so they counted on the Costa Rican government health insurance plan that they pay into to take care of me.
Now that I am sick, it is not working so well. I am considered a ward of the state like every other child in the public hospital and the nurses and doctors do things to me without consulting and sometimes against the wishes of my parents. Even though I just left intensive care where I was on a respirator to help me breath I do not have a machine monitoring my heart beat and oxygen levels because there are not enough to go around for all of us in this ward.
Due in part to the lack of functioning equipment I just relapsed into respiratory distress and had to be reintubated and placed back on a respirator. My Mom and Dad want to send me to the University of Iowa Childrens Hospital on an air ambulance so that I can recieve proper treatment but that will cost $35,000.
If everyone that loved me gave $2, $10 or $20 it would help my family get me back to Iowa where I can recieve World Class Treatment.
I can't wait to get better and be together with my family so I thank you very much for all of your help and prayers and so does my big sister Florencia.
Big Hugs,
Max
