Wings For Raven

Spende geschützt
Raven Rose was born June 10th, 2009 with Down's Syndrome. It's been a tough road for this amazing little girl and especially her mother Amanda. I'd like to take the opportunity to share their story and explain why I'm so compelled to help them.

In November 2011, Raven was diagnosed with leukemia and had to endure over two years of chemo treatment. While Raven was going through all this suffering, Amanda was already pregnant with her second child. Unfortunately, due to complications, Amanda had to be on 17 weeks of bed rest, or she could lose the baby, all while Raven was undergoing chemo.

In May 2012, Amanda gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy, Phoenix Matthew. While taking care of Phoenix, Raven continued undergo chemo, and she and her husband split up. Over the next two years, Amanda put herself through school, raising both children full time, bringing Raven to chemo treatments, paying $900/month in child care, major car problems, all while the children's father hardly payed any child support. He owes well over 20K in child back child support.

Two days after Raven's chemo treatment ended in March 2014, I met Amanda and began to fall in love with her and her beautiful family. As I got to know Amanda, I began to see what an amazing heart she has. She's the strongest woman I've ever met and continues to give and give, despite the constant setbacks she faces. Even as the bills racked up, she received little or no support from the children's father, but always kept a positive attitude. Finally, in November 2015, the kids father gave her 5 days notice, picked up and moved to Washington State, essentially abandoning the kids.

Within two months of the kids father leaving, Raven would be fighting for her life once again. In January 2016, she would be admitted to the hospital with double lung pneumonia, multiple organ failure, be on a ventilator, dialysis and near death. During this ordeal, they discovered mold in Amanda's apartment, which they say contributed to Raven's sickness. Amanda had to get rid of almost all of her furniture, and move out of her apartment all while Raven was in the fighting for her life in intensive care.

Raven would eventually make it through, but continues to suffer from chronic Epstien Barr, liver damage and many other physical ailments.  Amanda continues to be stuck with piling bills from not being able to work for three weeks, including hospital and doctors bills, an attorney for divorce and child support, the $900/month it costs for a special needs school with after school care, as well as continued every day life expenses. Every time Raven has a fever at school, Amanda is the one that has to call out sick and get her. Sick child = no work. No work = no pay. No pay = can't afford rent, kids school, bills etc. She can't catch a break. It's just a continued cycle of hell for her, yet she continues to push forward...for her children... on the verge of a physical and emotional breakdown.  I don't know how she does it… And I have learned so much about what it means to persevere and get through anything in life .

As I'm writing this, Raven is back in intensive care with pneumonia and fluid in her lungs, with additional complications. This is why I have started this go fund me campaign… To help alleviate Amanda from the stress she is experiencing with all of this. She's unable to work while Raven is in intensive care and obviously has no support from the children's father. I'm asking people, from the bottom of my heart, to please contribute something to help her get through these tough times. She continues to give and give to people, never asking for anything in return other than emotional support. But the reality is, she needs help financially too, to get through these tough times. She is the most simple, humble person I know, and works so hard to build a beautiful life for her kids... Exhausted every day. All I want is for her to not have to struggle in at least one aspect of her life so she can focus on getting Raven better and meet her children's needs. Thank you for your support from the bottom of my heart.
