Coming Together for Lori Seward's Surgeries

Our beautiful friend/relative Lori Seward, will undergo a few serious and complex surgeries shortly.  The surgeries will include nerve repair, rib removal and decompression of nerves and muscle in the neck and the other will be to remove blood clots and have a bypass of arteries in the lower left arm to her hand.

These surgeries are serious, delicate, complex and come with great risk.  The purpose of the surgeries is to minimize severe pain she lives with every day, avoid stroke, avoid amputation of her arm and save her life.   

In the testing process they also discovered another serious problem with Lori’s Aortic Valve, which creates an even greater risk.   

Fortunately, Lori has two specialists who work out of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. One surgeon is a nerve and thoracic surgeon who also works out of Children’s Hospital and the other is a cardiovascular surgeon who also heads a research lab and works closely with the military in efforts to minimize limb loss.

Roger and Lori are not fully prepared financially to bear the burden of the required medical expenses.  

A few of us recently had the opportunity to come together and spend time with Lori, supporting her to prepare for surgery – before her transition into what we know will be a successful, though trying, recovery period.  During that time, she honestly and openly shared her situation and we volunteered to seek help for them.
