I am a DJ, a dancer, a musician, a creative person and all around huggable teddy bear. I have been dealing with End-Stage Renal disease for almost the past decade. To give you some perspective, this is the last stage of chronic kidney disease. This occurs when the kidneys can no longer support your body's needs. This disease comes with an incredible amount of pain, emotionally, physically and mentally but it is often oversimplified.
How I learned about my eligibility by receiving a letter in the mail, which came just after New Years. Before I opened the letter I thought it was just another bill. When I actually read the contents of the letter, I screamed with joy and shared the good news with my Mother. I then went to work to go through the series of tests that I needed to go through to move forward with the transplant. My surgery is tentatively planned June 25th 2016. However, it may happen sooner if my condition changes.
Going through kidney failure has completely changed my life. Who I am, who I want to be, and goals I’ve wanted to accomplish. This situation has taken away my creativity and my overall happiness of my well-being. However, I still smile because of what I have learned about myself while dealing with this element of my life.
I’m asking for assistance because my insurance is only going to cover so much. I have the recovery time off, but unfortunately will not be paid. The donations collected here will help pay for pre-treatments, post treatments, medications, appointment copays, after care expenses, and towards my household bills during my recovery period since I won’t be able to work.
Having the chance to live a fulfilling 40+ years and the opportunity to be fully committed to my friends, family and my dynamic community I am involved with means everything to me. The core of my artistic expression, be it dancing. DJ’ing, or Jewelry Design will be more fruitful than ever. I will finally be able give 100% to all my passions.
