Save the Halifax Community Pool!

The Halifax Community Pool has been closed nearly two years now.  The pool's owner, the Halifax Area Recreational Authority (HARA)  unfortunately made the decision to close back in 2014 due to financial reasons and the pool sadly remained close for the entire 2015 season.   HARA did stay open to the idea of allowing someone to lease and manage the Halifax Harry Row Pool however.   In an agreement signed in early June 2016, that "someone" is now the non-profit organization Halifax Swim Club, Inc.

While there was previously a grant awarded to HARA for improvements to the pool, that money is earmarked for specific improvements and restricts use for operational costs.  That leaves the Halifax Swim Club with a significant amount of fundraising to cover Lifeguards, Insurance, Inspections, Utilities (Electricity, Phone, etc.), Chemical Treatment and Repair/Maintenance costs.  These items are in the thousands of dollars range.  While fundraising efforts have secured enough funds to open the pool, additional funds are urgently required to continue it's operation.

It is the hope of the Halifax Swim Club, Inc. to raise an additional $10,000 or more to acheive a break-even budget.   Given the extended time to negotiate the lease with HARA, our window of opportunity to complete repairs, pass inspections, and secure staffing/insurances has been substantially reduced leaving us with a tentative Re-Open date of July 2, 2016.

With your help, we can provide a clean, safe, enjoyable aquatic experience for area residents of ALL ages.   Our concessions will be open to the public in addition to pool patrons.   Look for our special menu items and group food programs as well.   We plan to offer special events through-out the season to make your experience more enjoyable and make the Halifax Community Pool a place you'll want to visit often.  We especially look forward to welcoming back groups such as the Twin Valley Aquatic Club (our local summer swim team), the Northern Dauphin County YMCA, and other area rehab facilities who use this pool for therapy and exercise programs among other activites.   The pool will be available for private party rentals as well.

So every dollar donated is greatly appreciated!!     We want Halifax to be a place where future families want to come and raise their children (and future swimmers!).  The pool plays a large part in that vision!    Won't you please help us out?
