The Georgia Safe Schools Coalition is raising money to make schools safer for all students! Our goal is to raise $60K to hire an Administrative Coordinator who will help us take the next steps in transforming Georgia schools for LGBTQ youth, and allow us to move to a more comprehensive approach that aims for liberating environments for queer and trans youth! School is out for the summer for LGBTQQ+ youth, so we are taking the next month to fundraise to make sure when they go back to school in August, we can have an Administrative Coordinator and hold schools even more accountable for ensuring their rights! Join us by contributing today! Since 2009, the Georgia Safe Schools Coalition has worked as a small, but committed, group of volunteers to change the environments in Georgia schools for queer and trans students. During that time, we have educated 1500 Georgia school counselors and educators and responded to over 50 crisis calls from LGBTQQ+ students and their families needing help asserting their rights. We founded the Georgia GSA Youth Summit, which has brought together nearly 2000 youth, families, and educators together over the past 6 years, and we organize the Queer and Trans Youth Liberation Space at Atlanta Pride. We also advocated for the first enumerated bullying policies protecting queer and trans students in Georgia with our coalition partners. The mission of the Georgia Safe Schools Coaliton is to reduce heterosexism and transnegativity, as well as addressing the racism, classism, ableism, and other oppressions that set Georgia students up for harm.
