USA Powerlifting

My name is Dakota Irek, and I have been invited to go to the Virgin Islands to compete in an NAPF meet as a Sub-Junior. For those of you who are not familiar with powerlifting, it's a pretty big deal for a high schooler to be invited to lift in this meet. I will be representing Wisconsin and the United States as a 17 year old.

The total cost of this trip will be around $1500, more or less depending on the plane ticket cost fluctuations($450-650), hotel rooms costs($50-150 per night, 4 nights), USA team fees($330).

I compete on August 18th, and I need to raise as much money as possible, as soon as possible so I can buy a plane ticket and book my hotel room. Any help will be grately appreciated!!!

I'm pretty lucky to have Zahn, who is the head coach for Horlick's Powerlifting team, and also a coach for the Sub-Junior team. He's a big part of the reason of why I got invited to this meet. He has stuck by me for my first 3 years of high school, and it has paid off. He told me I had a good chance of getting invited to this meet because I took 3rd at High School Nationals in Orlando, Fl this year, and he was right. He's the one that pushes me to be a better person all around, not just a lifter.

This is Brittany, my closest friend that is also going to NAPF. I've had the pleasure of getting close to her this year, I met her through Zahn who also coached her last year at NAPF, and she started to come to Horlick and lift with us. We were both excited when we found out that we were going to have the chance to lift at this meet together! She's another reason why I've become a better lifter, we always push each other in the gym and yell encouragement while we're lifting.

I also have Morgan Graham, Pete Nees, Joe Miller, and many other coaches of Horlick's Powerlifting team to thank for my success. If it weren't for any of these people, I wouldn't be where I am today. So by going on this trip and lifting at this meet, I wouldn't only be representing myself and the United States, I would also be representing all these people, and all the time, effort, money, and knowledge they've put into me. I would be eternally grateful to everyone who can help me go on this trip. This trip is such a huge opportunity for me to meet older lifters that hold American and World records. It will also jumpstart my Powerlifting opportunities outside of highschool that would start after I graduate next year. This trip will for sure hold a lifetime and more of memories in just 5 days, and I can't wait to go. Again, I will be eternally grateful of anyone that can help me go on this trip. It will be an experience like no other!
