Flu leads to Intensive Care

Donation protected
All donations will help Keila and Aaron(her husband) cover the expenses associated with her intensive care stay and recovery at an acute rehabilitation hospital.

$10,000 is the deductible for their catastrophic insurance. $35/night is what Aaron pays to be near Keila.

We have been blessed with so much love, support and prayers during Keila's fight for recovery. And this support has meant everything to us.

I am Keila's mother-in-law. I am creating this fundraiser to help Keila and my son, Aaron, overcome the challenges of her illness.

Keila got the flu and in less than a week her life changed entirely.

Keila was admitted to intensive care. And she remained there for nearly eight weeks.

Her heart worked so hard trying to keep her breathing, the left ventricle was damaged.

Soon other organs began having problems. Keila's lungs were damaged during treatment for her heart. Her gall bladder became inflamed, her liver was having problems and her kidneys began to fail.

A team of doctors and nurses were assigned to her, and they worked around the clock tirelessly to prevent Keila from requiring a heart transplant and other invasive procedures.

And they were successful.

This week Keila was transferred to an acute rehabilitation hospital. This hospital is one of the best in the country and we are fortunate to have her there. But it is hours away from all of her family and friends. Family members will visit on a weekly schedule so that a loved one will be with her all the time.

Once her recovery has progressed and she can leave the hospital, her work will continue at home with outpatient rehabilitation.

Keila is a strong, kind, intelligent young woman. She loves family, sports, travel and her work at a community college. She is my son's best friend and love of his life.

We are very grateful for any donation and emotional support for Aaron and Keila.

Thank You from all of Keila and Aaron's family.
