Jeremiah To Europe with Trombone

My name is Jeremiah Utley. I attend Boyne City High School as an Early College Now! senior and National Honor Society student. I am 17 years old, play a trombone in the Boyne City High School's concert band. I also play an upright bass in the school's jazz band, fall session of the Crooked Tree Youth Symphony Orchestra, and whenever I can find a group of musicians needing a bass player. I enjoy playing on the school's tennis team and am a part of Boyne City Blaze, which is the school's robotics team. This year, we went to the World Competition in Missouri.
I am the son of Michelle Utley of Boyne Falls, and brother to Seth, Chris and Muriel Zimmerman. I have played my trombone since 6th grade and my bass since 2nd grade.
This summer, I am attending Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp's jazz session with my trombone, The last few summers, I attended with my upright bass and last year all the hard work and effort paid off when I was placed in the highest level of jazz band... the Gold Jazz Band and first level group for music improvising.
I am excited to have been accepted into the Michigan Ambassadors of Music's European Tour as one of their trombone players and 280 Michigan music representatives. We will tour England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein playing music to represent Michigan in European outdoor parks and cathedrals during July 2017.
The money will be used to pay for the plane flight, hotels, and food. The cost of uniforms, passports and insurance will be above this cost.
This trip will mean the world to me as I will be able to experience the culture of other countries, learn from their culture, and share my love of music to others. In appreciation, I will continue to share my music, as I already have in Boyne City, Good Hart, Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Charlevoix, Mio, Johannesburg, and through free concerts at local Farmer's Markets, Stroll the Streets, and music festivals the last 3 summers, plus the last 10 years at school concerts and orchestra concerts.
A final thank you would be to all the people that have helped me reach this dream: the many men and a few women that took me under their wing at Boyne's Subway on Saturday mornings to teach me how to play without sheet music and my music teachers, who guided me to appreciate music. Plus thank you to my mom, who drove me 6 nights a week to practice or concerts all over Northern Michigan.
