Audrey's Medical Expenses

Update: May 21, 2019
Journal entry by Sig Tumlin —
Audrey has had swelling on her head which has steadily increased in size over the last couple of weeks. As this had not been bothering her the plan was to hold off on treating it so we could focus on treating the GBM tumor. Over the weekend Audrey started having pain related to the swelling and it also appears to be impacting her speech and causing confusion. We went to see her neuro oncologist, Dr. Sengupta, and neuro surgeon, Dr. Olson, today and they are in agreement that Audrey needs to have a procedure to relieve the fluid buildup. Audrey will have surgery on Thursday to place a shunt in her head to drain the fluid as long as insurance is able to approve the procedure in time. This procedure will be inpatient so Audrey will be back in the hospital for a few days, but hopefully this will be another short stay.

There are risks associated with the shunt and it will postpone Audrey's next round of chemo next week, but it is necessary to relieve the pressure to avoid additional issues with her communication and sight. The procedure is much less invasive than her previous two surgeries which is good news. While another surgery is not the news we wanted, Audrey was in good spirits and I am hopeful that this will give her some relief.

Thank you for all your sustaining love and support. Whether through prayer, food, thoughts or even financial support through the go-fund-me site; the help you are giving our family means more than I can express. Thank you.

Audrey had been having migraines since Christmas which had progressively been getting worse. We went to the emergency room on Thursday January 24th and she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was admitted at Emory Hospital later that day and we are hoping to have additional information soon. I will do my best to update the journal on this site as I have additional information as I know there are a lot of people praying for us and following our story.

Audrey is a bone marrow transplant coordinator at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. In addition, she is an incredible mother to both George (13 months) and our dog Spud.

Audrey is an extremely strong woman and I have no doubt that she will make it through this. She is a amazing woman and wife and she impresses me on a daily basis.

We sincerely appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
