Meet Makula
My friend, my companion and a member of my family. If you are a dog lover you know exactly how I feel when I say I love this dog and want to take care of her no matter what. Writing is not my strong suit and I am so emotional right now its just hard to think. But I do know is that I need your help getting Makula back to health.
She needs emergency surgery on her leg and it costs more than I can afford. I took her to the vet this week and after blood work and a needle test they have determined she has a mast cell tumor. They will not be able to tell me what grade it is until they biopsy it which is where the surgery comes in. The pathologist did say that under the microscope the cells are behaving like a grade 1 or 2 which is at the better end of the spectrum. The other issue is that because of its size and location they have to call in a specialist to help make sure there is enough skin to close up the hole after the removal.
I have struggled with the decision of what to do, and know that she still has another 5 yrs left in her which I don’t want to take away from her just because I can’t afford the surgery she needs. All of her other blood work came back great reinforcing the fact that she is very healthy otherwise. I want to make sure she has the opportunity to still run with me and acts like the puppy she still thinks she is.
