Tarahumara to Kodiak Ultra 2017

Donation protected

Hello Big Bear and Kodiak running friends,

We are working on bringing the Tarahumara runners from Copper Canyon to Big Bear for the 4th Annual Kodiak 100 September 16-17th, 2016.  This year's runners will be Arnulfo Quimare, you might know him from the book Born to Run, and Miguel Lara.

Last year Miguel was running with the leaders in the 100 mile event when a course marker was moved coming out of Siberia Canyon. He got lost for several hours and eventually DNF'd. It was disappointing but wound up having an amazing ending when several thousand dollars was donated to support Miguel and his running efforts (which Miguel spent on five cows and a good chain saw).

This year is a new year and the 100 mile event is stacked with talent. The defending champion and course record holder Chris Seigel, Guillaume Galmettes (coming off his big AC100 win), Jorge Pachecho and with your help Miguel. The additional prize money this year will surely bring even more talent and it promises to be an elite level race with world class talent.

A necessary change is we are going to bring the team up earlier so they can see the course and practice with some new gear. The extra days will add additional expenses and we hope you can help with these costs.

Arnulfo will be running the 50 mile event which is his preferred distance. As always team Coach Mario Munoz will be bringing traditional Tarahumare crafts for display and sale during the event.

100% of all donations will go to Team Tarahumara.

No siempre gana el que corre más rápido, sino el que sigue corriendo. Corre Libre!

Thank you and see you on the trail,
