George Allen & Family

Donation protected
George and 2 of his children where struck by lightning yesterday (7/9/16) in Lisburn. He is fighting for his life in hospital as is his 5 year old son. His daughter is said to be in a stable condition.

George has lived in Ballymacash all his life and is well known in our local community. We would like to raise some funds for the family to help with bills and every day costs during this difficult time.

We are all praying they make a full and speedy recovery.

================
Before any funds are released I need to confirm who I am and what the funds are being used for. My name is Jonathan Corry and I live in Ballymacash. I am a local community representative, Chairman of the North Lisburn Community Investment (NLCI) and Treasurer of Ballymacash Cultural Awareness Project (BCAP). Through most of his life George worked as a telescopic handler operator on building sites until an injury a few years back caused him to stop working full time at the job he loved. In the leadup to Cultural celebrations in July, George volunteers to operate the telescopic handler for BCAP. On Friday 3rd June our machine was due to arrive at 11am but instead came early at 9am. George is the bread earner in his family and between himself and his wife Sharon they support 6 kids aged from 5-17. He is a registered waste carrier and makes his livelihood doing house clearances and dump runs. He was doing a run in Belfast when our machine arrived early and when I phoned him to say it had arrived early he was really keen to get finished up his jobs and get back up the road to Ballymacash. When he arrived at our bonfire site he was in his element, he had a big smile on his face and said “Jonny, I’ve been so looking forward to this”. He jumped in and started to do his thing.

I’ve known George over 20 years as we went to the same high school but I was younger than him and in the same year as his brother Jonny. I also worked for a short time with his brother Moe but it was always George I knew best and seen regularly because I’ve lived close to him for the past 6 years. His family mean’s everything to him and he would do anything for them. He is an absolute gentleman and if you ever asked him for a favour or to do something for you he would always do his best to help you. He never passes you in the street or shop without speaking or when driving past flashing his lights and waving. George is a friend any someone I can rely on if I needed anything, as do many others in the area.

We (BCAP) have started this funding because as George is fighting for his life in hospital he is unable to support the family himself. Bills still need paid, mobile phone bills to keep in touch with the family members with updates, car insurance, fuel, food to name some. We want to take any financial burden off the families shoulders as they have enough on their plate.

George has a long journey ahead of him and the money donated will be given directly to the family to support them.

The funds will be withdrew in my name and a cheque will be given to the family from Ballymacash Cultural Awareness Project. This website will also take a percentage of your kind donation and keep it for themselves.
