2019 Kyle Ernst Foundation Marathon

Hello Family and Friends,

I am writing to ask for your support as I prepare for my 8th Marathon to raise money for Kyle’s Scholarship Foundation. I’ve survived the last 7 years and have decided with Kyle’s help - to attempt to do it again!

I would have never believed I could have completed 3 full marathons and 3 half marathons and 1-10K in my life. But – “we never know how strong we are until being strong is the only choice you have”  -One of one favorite quotes someone gave me when Kyle died and I have kept it framed on my desk where I see it every day to remind me that I can survive anything.

This is our only fundraising event that we do each year and your generous donations enable us to help so many throughout the year.

The race is Saturday October 19th in Downtown Kansas City. My goal this year, like last year, is to just finish! I have a team of people who will be with me this year and we are going to have a great time - #TEAMKYLE!

We started the Kyle Ernst Scholarship Foundation when we lost our son, to help families with the costs of Catholic Education. When Kyle died, we were so blessed to have Christopher and Katie in the Catholic School system. They wrapped them up in their arms and took care of them every day when we couldn’t. I will always be so grateful for the love and support I know my children got during this difficult time in our lives.

In the past seven years we have been able to give $69,000 to families who have made the decision to put their children in the Catholic School System.

We have also been able to expand our Foundation to help support Organ Donor Awareness among teens. As you may know, we donated Kyle’s organs. While this was an excruciating decision at the time, it has been so rewarding to start communicating with some of the recipients and learn about their stories and lives post-transplant. Knowing that a part of my son lives on in others gives me some peace knowing that he is still here on earth helping others live a full and healthy life.
