Support for Rylee

Hi everyone! I wanted to take a minute to explain everything that is going on with Rylee. I know many of you have been following her journey so far. On November 1st we took Rylee to the ER due to her having blood in her urine. We were expecting doctors to tell us it was a simple infection and to be sent home. Unfortunately that was when we got the news that she had a large tumor on her left kidney and would be immediately admitted to have surgery. She had surgery on November 4th. They removed her left kidney and tumor in one piece, although they did have a small tear in the tumor during removal. The tumor was then sent in for further testing to determine the type and stage of cancer. Then on November 6th she had surgery to put her port IV in for chemotherapy. We were anticipating that the tumor was a Wilm's tumor. We waited about two weeks as the pathologists at Riley Hospital did extensive testing. Then last Thursday we got the news that we didn't want to get. Rylee was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called clear cell sarcoma stage 3. Clear cell sarcoma is a very aggressive cancer that requires radiation and intense chemotherapy. We had a meeting with the oncologist that will be treating Rylee on Friday. All of her chemotherapy treatments will now be inpatient. She will spend a lot of time in the hospital, as well as going back and forth for appointments. On top of that her treatment will require 11 days straight of radiation that will be completed at the beginning of her journey, starting tomorrow 11/25. As of now she has roughly 8 months of treatment, but doctors have told us to anticipate for longer. She will be spending over 30 days of the next 8 months inpatient. That being said Rylee is one tough 3 year old. I see her everyday and see how strong she really is, she is proud of her "boo-boos" and "bump" (chemo port) as she calls it. She has the most amazing parents that will be by her side throughout this whole journey. We are doing everything we can to be there for them emotionally, physically and financially. Paul will be taking a lot of time off work to be here for Rylee. Alyssa and Paul truly have the most supportive family and friends and we are so thankful for everything that everyone has done for them so far. We can not thank you all enough. Tomorrow is the beginning of this long journey but we know Rylee is in the best care possible! I will continue to update everyone.
