Hi, my name is Chris Hoffman I live in cocoa Florida. I am married to an amazing woman, Michelle and we have 3 wonderful children, Keegan 10, Liam 8, and Sullivan 2! Our family has recently been thru a trying time and as this journey goes on I have a feeling it will get worse before it gets better.
It seems more and more people are getting diagnosed with that ugly C word. Unfortunately my day came on 5/3/2016 after a colonoscopy reveled my worst fear...colon cancer. I have had symptoms prior and went to a few Drs. We didn't have insurance at the time (4 years ago) and he said colonoscopy's are pretty expensive and you are so young! Well if he would have just ordered it I wouldn't be with cancer today!! it would have been just a polyp! Now I am at stage 3 of colon cancer. Prior to the colonoscopy I had a ct scan and that reveled 2 shadows on my liver which they thought might have spread from the colon if the tumor had gone thru the colon wall! So surgery was set I had a leading liver transplant surgeon and the recommended colorectal surgeon in place for the same day and time so they could open me up once!
3 1/2 hours later and 12 inches of my colon missing I was in recovery! I made it thru after 5 days recouping in the hospital and to find out the liver shadows (spots that I might have been born with) were not cancer was a small weight off my shoulders. After 2 weeks and wanting to get these 39 staples out of my abdomen we met with the colorectal surgeon to get the news about what type of cancer was growing in the tumor, what fed it, why did I have it?
Well come to find out where the tumor was it had gone thru the colon wall and was bigger than they thought from the ct scan. He had also taken 27 lymphs from around the tumor and 3 came back as cancerous.
What a blow!! Not only that, they don't know how it got there or why! I have been thinking about my past and I have usually been very healthy! At this point we have already encurred a tremendous amount of expenses as our fight to beat cancer begins. I am the sole provider for my amazing family.
In order to attack this with nutrition, natural therapies & much more it will be extremely expensive over the next 6 to 12 months, perhaps as much as $50,000 or more on top of all our normal expenses.
We will be happy to detail our specifics for anyone who wants to help us financially or feels led to support. These expenses include, health & nutrition changes regarding food, supplements, herbs, medical consultations and treatments. We have begun the road back to health and believe combining all of these treatments is what is necessary to have the best chance of me Kicking cancers behind.
