28 Youth + education = Chance to BE

Donation protected
There are 1.2 million Kenyan youth not going to school... mostly because schools are fee based and too many simply are too poor to pay the fees.

Ruth and I have chosen 28 young men and women from among those unable to afford to attend secondary school, who we believe can not only perform well, but take the education they will receive and build a better life for themselves, their families and in time their nation.

And yes they are only 28 out of more than a million.  Yet we are reminded of the story of the lone starfish which was saved by a young boy even though there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the beach.  When asked by an adult if it was worth the effort since one didn't make much of a difference, the young man answered, "It mattered to that one Starfish."

And so it will be for these 28.  Please help us make a difference for these amazing young men and women.  For them it will mean... well it will mean everything.

All funds will be transferred directly to Ruth and I where we will personally deposit the money for each child directly into the appropriate bank account for the school they will be attending. We do this to make sure the money gets to where it is supposed to go. We keep one receipt of payment and give a copy to the parent or guardian so they can show the school when enrolling.

The students are required to show us their grades (marks) at the end of each term.  They will all be held accountable for their studies and know they may not be funded in the future if they fail to perform well or at least improve each term.

In addition, each student will be mentored and given training on being an ethical, transparent, character-driven servant leader.  All will receive mentoring by Ruth and myself and some will be chosen to attend the New Generation Leadership training I and others do at the International Peace Initiative's training facilities.

Yet none of this can happen for these 28 unless we obtain the funding to pay for their school fees.  Most students will board and as such the yearly cost including boarding averate approximately $450 USD for the year... some a bit higher, some a bit lower depending on the school they will be attending.

We always try to assure their parents and/or guardians pay something, but in far too many cases that is simply not possible.  So we do what needs to be done to make sure their child attends school.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me either on Facebook or via this site.

Thank you so much for any consideration and help!  We will keep you posted both here and on my Facebook page (David Bernard-Stevens) on how this project is doing.  All funds need to be received by the end of December as their new school year will begin early January of 2018.
