Hello,
I have anguished for months about this, but I am now beyond desperate.
As many of you know I'm a very independent, single, self employed female.
I have very reluctantly founded this Go Fund Me as the thought of losing my soul mate, Ricochet is devastating, not only to me but to her many loved ones, she is a cherished member of her local community.
Ricochet is my 7yr old German Shepherd and is the love of my life, she was diagnosed with a Forebrain tumour at the University of Veterinary medicine, Sydney, in October last year, her prognosis was poor and she was given about 4 Weeks to live. This news was obviously devastating and I could not envisage life without her.
I sought a second opinion from SASH (small animal specialist hospital) and was introduced to the wonderful Georgina Child (canine neurologist), she referred her to expert surgeon Andrew Marchevsky, who after much deliberation decided to try and operate on her tumour.
The risks were very high but I had no other choice, she underwent brain surgery to debulk the tumour on 25/11/15.
She came through the surgery like a trouper (the photo is her 2nd day post op).
Since then she has had lots of ups and downs, many hospitalisations and is on a great assortment of drugs, which although are saving her life have quite severe side effects.
All this as you can imagine has come at a premium cost and I'm afraid I have exhausted all my financial avenues.
(A big thank you to friends who have helped me out along the way.)
I'm asking for help as she still needs ongoing care and medications and will need another MRI scan soon.
Last week's set back was the straw that broke the camel's back and it meant her getting treatment, or my rent and bills getting paid.....of course I chose her treatment.
BUT I am now totally desolate and can't bear to lose her for lack of funds.....so despite all my pride and principles I'm embarrassingly begging for help.
