“I made my entrance on March 29, 2014, by all appearances I was a healthy normal boy.  During the night I was very fussy as my mommy tried to breast feed me, but unknown to her I was not feeling very good…When the pediatric doctor came in the next day to do the normal check-up, she took a lot longer listening to my heart and that’s where my heart journey began….” M.J. Preston

Mark “M.J.” Aaron Preston, Jr. was diagnosed on March 30th with Hypo Plastic Left Heart Syndrome and was immediately rushed to Hopes Children Hospital.  At five days old, 4/3/2014, he underwent his first open heart procedure the Norwood…and finally got to come home on 4/14/2014, however on 7/17/2014 he was back for the second open heart procedure the “Glenn”.  Over the next year and a half M.J has grown to be a smart little man, who loves Hockey, Baseball and Mickey Mouse…  On 4/28/2016, the Fontan open heart procedure was completed, and M.J. is currently recovering in the PSHU.

As a family we have worked together to ensure that M.J. has had anything he needs personally, but his parents are still receiving medical bills for the first two procedures…now with the third they can only imagine what may come down the line.  Mom and Dad are both currently on leave from work to help support M.J.’s recovery as well as each other.
