Help Save Ethan (kitty eye surgery)

Donation protected
Seeing that this gentle sweet innocent kitten is so strong, we named him Ethan; meaning strength in Hebrew.
Yesterday, while heading back from a quick drive, my Mom and I saw a tiny fragile kitten sitting on the side of the road. We of course pulled over as quickly as we could and picked him up. He was badly hurt. His eyes were gouged and dripping blood. He was alone, scared, and helpless. We rushed him to the only open vet in the area, a 24 hour emergency clinic, and upon briefly looking at him (about 30 seconds max) the vet said that he would either have to have both of his eyes removed for around $1500 or be euthanized (which they would have charged us for also).
My mom and I felt very uneasy about the situation and decided to leave. We took him home and kept him for the night to see if his demeanor would improve. We knew that there was potential that he might not survive the night, but wanted to bring him to a vet the next morning. One that my mom regularly brings her own animals to because she really trusts them.
Throughout the night he was acting like a normal happy kitty! He was purring when I pet him, walking around (apparently he was able to see somewhat, maybe just very blurry figures out of his left eye!), he even drank some milk I fed him out of a tiny dropper. He was happy, but regardless NEEDED help.
After sleeping next to him the entire night, Ethan was awake and ready to go to the vet in the morning. We brought him in and they examined him. They said that as far as they can tell he seemed very healthy, with the (huge) exception of his eyes. The veterinarian told us that unfortunately the right eye would not be able to stay. They needed to remove it. They gave us the option of removing one eye, both eyes, or euthanize him. We couldn't put him down. He had survived this whole time and was now in the comfort of our arms. We couldn't put him down after all that had happened to him.

The vet feels that he has a huge chance of surviving and that although his vision will be shadows (at best) he will be able to quickly and happily adjust to his new life.

Ethan is currently in surgery (May 28, 2016 12:30pm). We are going to pick him up tomorrow!

The cost for this huge surgery, anasthetia, and medications following his surgery has racked up to nearly $900. We are hoping that you can help us afford to save his life so we can give him the loving home he deserves right here with us.

ANYTHING will help. Please, even if you can't afford to donate, please share this so it can be spread to more people.

I will update his condition as I find out.

Thank you all in advance!
