My name is Eric Kosmatka, I am from Jefferson City, MO and a graduate of Helias Catholic High School and Lincoln University. I played Varsity golf through high school and college. I have been a co-owner of Mid-State Landscaping LLC since 2011. I currently live in Jefferson City, MO with my black lab Harlo.
In February 2016, I started having neurological symptoms and problems. I had blurred vission, balance and speech issues, my motor skills were affected, and on top of that I had drastic weight loss. With all of those symptoms I lost the ability to drive myself, making it very difficult to do my daily work tasks. During a 6 month period I was jumping from doctor to doctor trying to figure out what was causing all these problems. In April 2016 doctors diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrom because of an accident that happen in January 2016, the door of a Bobcat fell on me while plowing snow. For around 3 months I attended both Physical and Occupational Therapy three times a week for the tramatic brain injury I had. I hoped this would solve all my problems, but nothing changed.
July 15th, 2016 I noticed I had enlarged lymph nods on both sides of my neck. After several different doctor appointments and a biyopsy on August 3, 2016 I was diagnoised with Stage 3, Hodgkin Lymphoma. I immediately started preperations for Chemo and did a Bone Marrow Biopsy. The results from the biopsy were all negative. My family came to town and we headed to St. Louis, MO for a treatment plan from the team of Cancer Specialist at Sides Cancer at Barnes Jewish Hospital. After getting a second opinion, both teams of doctors agreed on my final treatment plan.
I started my first round of a two cycle Chemotherapy program at JCMG Cancer Center on August 25, 2016. After two months of every other week treatment, I will head back to Barnes for a PET Scan to see how my body is responding to the Chemo. Based on those results the doctors will set me up with a four month treatment plan.
I will be using all donations to help pay for my medical bills as well as for my family to travel back and forth from Warrensburg, MO.
