Grace's Lifetime Care and 3D Leg

Donation protected
Luvnpupz Rescue is a 501c3 non profit organization raising money for Baby Grace's lifetime care and the possibility of finding a specialist and have a 3D leg made for her, she'll require many as she continues to grow.
In mid October of 2015 I received a call from a shelter that an extremely emaciated mom and 6 malnourished 3 week old pups had been surrendered and needed immediate rescue. I rushed to get the family. When I picked them up I realized that one of the puppies was very small and not moving like the others. Upon closer inspection of the little girl, I realized her back leg was 3 times the size of the others and she was abscessing infection from the leg all the way to the top of her head. I rushed the family to Dr Kane at Allegan Veterinary Clinic for immediate assessment. It was determined that Baby Grace needed an immediate amputation. We put her antibiotics for 2 days hoping that would help before surgery. At 3 pounds and 3 weeks, her leg was removed including up to her ribs to try to clear the infection that had consumed her body. It was determined that either the mother stepped on her right after birth or that it was broken in the birth canal. Meaning she was left to suffer for 3 weeks, unable to feed from mom as well as the others and in pain.I stayed while she was in surgery and a drain tube was placed for the infection. We weren't sure she would survive the night. A week later at checkup, we found that the infection was hiding a larger problem. Her pelvis was also shattered and was deemed inoperable. Because of this, we deemed her unadoptable. As she grows to full size, she'll begin to lose the ability to support herself. At 9 months old, we're beginning to see the signs. We live with ramps in and out of the home so she can get around as much as she can for as long as she can. She's not a candidate for a prosthetic because she was left without a stump because of the infection, which also leaves her unable to use wheels. We do not have funds for specialists or to seek a 3D leg if possible. We'll care for her no matter what, even if that means carrying her 60+ pounds around for the rest of her life. Giving her the gift of being able to walk with 4 legs could change her entire world.
