Meet mommy Maili and baby Elias who are currently living out of a hospital room in Miami Children's Hospital. Mommy Maili is far away from her central Florida home where her little girl Elliana, who is two years old is patiently waiting to reunite with her mommy and baby brother Elias. While dad Daniel is working a new job in Texas, her life has been turned inside out 5 weeks after welcoming her baby boy into this world. Instead of adjusting to returning back to work from maternity leave, she has been in a hospital room for two weeks. Elias was born with FCD (Focal Cortical Dysplasia) a congenital abnormality in the brain that causes seizures in infants. During her first week back to work, they began to notice he was stiffening and having small tremors. An appointment with his pediatrician lead her to Nemours Hospital NICU. After a week of endless testing, EEG's, MRI's, CT Scans and series of medications that some adults are not able to tolerate nothing has worked to slow these seizures down. They are ranging from every 15 minutes to several hours apart. Maili and her mother Paula have not left baby Elias side from the moment of admission. Doctors have shortly notified Maili that baby Elias was going to need brain surgery and he would need to be transported via helicopter to Miami Children's Hospital. Anyone that has a child could only imagine trying to cope during a time like this for her and her family. Her sisters and aunts have come together to take care of Elli while Maili is 4 hours away with baby Elias. We need to come together as a community and as an extension of her family to help her in anyway possible. This is an immense financial burden. She doesn't have the time to think about how she is going to survive financially these next couple of months, she needs to focus on her babies. Her biggest wish is to be back home in Central Florida with her two HEALTHY babies. Let's help her get back home with a piece of mind. Every donation counts!!
