Charlotte & Michael Recovery Fund

Our beloved Charlotte Nurse needs our help. She was the victim of a terrible accident on Monday, May 16 that has changed her life forever. A teenager stole a car and ran through a red light and ran over Charlotte while she and her son were crossing the street with the right of way.

She is an amazing woman and saved her son's life during this accident. Tragically Charlotte's leg had to be amputated, her pelvis was smashed, and several vertebra have been fractured. But the extraordinary skill and care of her doctors from SUNY Downstate and the Kings County Hospital trauma team have saved her life. We are so grateful that she is healing now, but her road to recovery will be long.

Please help us support Charlotte in her journey to regain her mobility and make a life for herself and her two-year-old son, "Mikey."

She will be confined to a hospital bed for months before making it to rehab. The focus right now is to prepare her for a prosthetic leg so that she can once again walk with her child and work to earn a living.

For those of you who do not personally know Charlotte, she is the most energetic and positive person you'll ever meet. Her love of life and strength are remarkable. That's one of the reasons we know she can and will make this recovery. And why it is so important to give her the resources she needs to get better and walk again.

Her brothers Andrew ("Silas") and Brenden Mitchell are her rocks. And her best friend Jenelle is with her around the clock. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers, and healing energy. We are all humbled at the extent of support and love that have come through in the past week.
