Hi my name is Dinali, I am the President Elect of the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan in Sri Lanka. I am a British born Sri Lankan, residing in Colombo. Our Rotary club is trying help the hundreds of thousands of people now destitute due to the monsoon rains.
It is estimated over 400,000 people have now been displaced due to the severe weather conditions and floods. Many are underprivileged families with young and old.
We have all been lending our hands, time and finances for the past week to assist in any way we can, be it preparation of meals, dry rations, medication, sanitation etc. No matter how much we help it never seems enough. Today we fed 500 people and tomorrow another 800 is scheduled.
Some of our clubs projects over the past couple of years for underprivileged children in schools has now been washed away by the floods, computers, books, furniture etc..... Soon, once the rains stop we will have to focus our attentions and energies to rehabilitation and re building of communities. We desperately need your support!
Please spare a thought for our displaced communities...they had very little to start with and now they have nothing at all, just the clothes on their backs.
Every penny you donate will be accounted for and allocated to help rebuild their lives.
