Maxine Calloway Funeral Fund

Donation protected
On Friday May 20th, 2016, we unexpectedly lost our beloved Maxine Ivory Baker Calloway.  She was 54 years old, lived a full life and certainly left her mark on this world. Maxine and her kind heart will not be forgotten.  She leaves behind three children, Tabitha, Phillip and Ericka, in addition to many friends and family members whom love her dearly.  So many hearts are broken with the loss of Maxine.

Please send your love and help by contributing to this funeral fund to support her family in this difficult time.  Also, take a moment to reflect on Maxine's life through the eyes of her youngest daughter, Ericka. Maxine was a beautiful soul and has left an irreplaceable footprint on each of our lives:

"She was my mom. My Mad Maxine. She was everything and more to me, to all of us. She was what we would call spunky, driven, hard working, powerful, bold, with an infectious smile, strong willed, determined, fun, the kind of person you could sit and talk with when something was on you mind and you just don't know what to say, she'd say, 'Well what?? What is it?!' She was so demanding in a small stature but no one, not even a stranger, could say that she was not strong. She was a woman who went through life speaking her mind! She would be heard.

It was when she was silent that it was hard to read her. She became somehow mysterious to me, no longer Mom, but Maxine, an identity that lived before me, remembered what she was taught, and was for damn sure gonna get it through to you. I like that. I admired it so much that she had an iron will. This is how I know that no one could have taken her from us. She chose. She made her choice that she had done all she could for all of us, given us all the knowledge she could bestow upon us, she could only repeat it to make it sink in. And I am so grateful for her repetitive nature, her traditions, her morals.

Remember what lessons she had taught you about life yourself boys, heffas, girls and 5150 strangers. Spend time with the people you love and when you spend time be in the moment put your f****** phone down. Look them in the eyes and be honest. Don't just help people if you see someone going through it, don't ask, 'how can I help?' just help! Give what you can, do what you can, say what you can. Connect.

Connect with people you care about. Find things, people, and places to care about because this life matters, and my mother's life truly mattered and has left an unremovable scar on this earth. And I will make sure people remember Maxine Ivory Baker Calloway. Our mom. My mommy."
