Chesley's Care Fund

Donation protected
Jason, Tamara, Kaitlyn and Drew- the Chesley family- have worked together to bring charity to those in need for many years, it's just who they are. Tamara and Kaitlyn have lead a Mukilteo Relay for Life team going on 7 years, while all four of them have been feeding the homeless every other Sunday for about 5 years. As a family, they have been working with the free dental van, giving oral care to those in need for about 3 years, for which Drew was recognized by ABC Youth Service America with $1,000 check to donate towards feeding the homeless, for his outstanding contributions. As if that isn't doing enough for the community, Tamara and her good friends decided to do what they called "Operation Free Groceries" where they secretly paid for groceries of unknowing shoppers. Of course, let's not overlook Jason's 7 year commitment to Search and Rescue in the U.S Navy, followed by another 2 years in the Reserves. The whole family is passionate about helping others, even in times of hardship.

As many of you know, on April 6, 2016, Jason suffered a terrible accident where he was electrocuted through his hand and thrown from a 10 foot ladder while he was working, breaking both legs. Jason has undergone multiple surgeries to repair his shattered tibia and fibula & had his entire ankle restructured. Though the year ahead will be challenging, Jason is optimistic and hopes to have a full recovery by April 2017.

This past week, the roof began to pour water right into Drew's bed! Normally, Jason would be out repairing the roof, but being hospitalized and bedridden prevents him from doing so. Money to fix the roof is competing againgst the funds that were supposed to go to their family car that broke down in March. Of course these financial costs couldn't come at a worse time, but the Chesley's are trying not to focus on the harships but are focusing on the positive. They are uplifted knowing that Jason should be able to return home from the hospital this weekend, after the installation of a wheelchair ramp and other alterations are done to their home to accommodate Jason's wheelchair.

This has not been easy on the Chesley family, however, they are grateful to have such wonderful family and friend support! They appreciate every meal prepared and the yard maintenance provided by their church. Although the roof and car troubles are extra unexpected costs, the only monetary contributions requested are those to help cover Tamara's time off of work to get their home ready, to take care of Jason, and bring him to future physical therapy and doctor's appointments over the next year. Since Tamara has exhausted all of her vacation and sick pay, we now have an opportunity to help the charity giving family that has given so much to others!

Let's work together to ease financial stress on the Chesley family, allowing them to focus their energy on helping Jason make a full recovery. :)
