Corinn Thunderfist is sick!

Donation protected
My boyfriend Kyle and I live in an RV  and work as traveling artists, crafters and occasional bartenders. We have a dog named Corinn who loves traveling with us! Unfortunately she is suddenly very, very sick.

On Friday May 20th Corinn collapsed on Bogart Street in Bushwick. We freaked out and took her to the vet where she was diagnosed with acute vestibular disease. She had nystagmus (involuntary movement of the eyes), a slight head tilt, and was barely able to walk. This is a common problem for elderly dogs, but Corinn is only seven and a half. Something was wrong.

The initial attack lasted about an hour and a half. At our normal vet they did some blood work and took her blood pressure, which was super high. They decided to do the bloodwork in house which initially showed her as anemic (luckily, a mistake) and after a quick look at her gums it was obvious that she was jaundiced as well. At that point we were told it was unsafe to take her home and were transfered to VERG  in Cobble Hill. By the time we got down there the vestibular episode had righted itself, but her liver values were so high that she had to be hospitilzed for over forty-eight hours. They pumped her full of fluids, monitored her blood pressure and sent her home with us on Sunday the 22nd. She was still slightly jaundiced, but she was eating and energetic.

Early in the morning on the 23rd she started wobbling a bit, and by 8am she couldn't walk at all. Her head tilt was super pronounced and her eyes were bouncing. We rushed her back to the hospital where they loaded us up with anti-nausea meds and prescription food.

They've run a ton of tests so far (a full tick panel, ultrasounds, non-invasive cancer screening, etc) and still have no idea what's wrong with her. According to her three main doctors (and all the other doctors they have on speed-dial) she's a medical anomaly. It would make for a facinating episode of House, but in real life it's just scary and expensive. On Sunday we're getting a biopsy.  We don't know what else to do.

Corinn is our best friend. She's our constant companion. She's our family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If she was an old dog we'd be getting ready to say goodbye, but she's not. She's young and up until a few days ago was the picture of health. This is heartbreaking and exhausting.

We love all of you very very much.

Thank you.
