Help me stay with my family

Hi, my name is Adriana. I'm in a situation that's very scary, and very stressful. Here is my story, and I hope you can help.
For as long as I could remember, I grew up applying for a work permit (even before I was the legal age of working.) I just thought it was something EVERYONE had to do. Once I got older, I understood. You see, I wasn't born here. I'm from El Salvador. I was brought to this country at the age of 11 months. This country is all I know. Anyway, in 2011, I was blessed with an amazing job, life was great. Then, in 2012, when I reapplied for my work permit, someone made a mistake on my paper work, which caused me to lose my permit. Not having a work permit, made me lose my job, because it meant I'm not legally allowed to work in this country.
I didn't understand WHY I got denied, because I've done nothing wrong, I went to the same place where I went every year to reapply. No one could give me answers. I called immigration and many lawyers, I was told to pay for appeals to see why I was denied, after paying for multiple appeals, I never got an answer.
I am married, he is a citizen, this does NOT mean, I automatically receive my green card. It means I'm in a "first in line to apply" type of situation. I've gotten in touch with a local lawyer here who could start my case all over, but its going to be $5,000. I've already paid $2,000. But its been hard coming up with the rest, my husband is the only one working. He works, full time and stays overtime when needed. I also do some cash jobs, from being a dance instructor, to babysitting, cleaning houses. But its n ever enough, we are always so backed up on bills, we try so hard to be caught up. Its either, we pay for my lawyer/immigration fees, or my family, my children, end up homeless. I need money, to pay for my work permit, but I don't have a work permit, to make that money. Its a never ending, stress filled, cycle. If you could please, find it in your heart to help with ANYTHING, I'd greatly appreciate it. If I do not pay, my case will be closed, and I risk being ripped away from my family, my children, my home...my life. I'd be forced to live in a country, that I don't know, and forced to live there alone. Please, help me stay with my family. Thank you, God bless you.
