Against All Odds WE fight to defeat DIPG

Donation protected
Alexis is a 19 year old college student athlete at Reinhardt University. She is a member of the Woman’s Lacrosse team and a graduate of Woodland High School, Henry County, Cum Laude. She is currently a biology major and has hopes of becoming an OB/GYN.

Alexis was diagnosed on January 20th 2018 with Stage 4 inoperable and incurable, DIPG. A cancer that affects young children leaving them just 9 months to live. She has undergone radiation and has been taking part in a clinical trial as these are the only options to kids with this type of Cancer.

Throughout all of her trials, she has maintained a 3.8 GPA in a strong Biology program at Reinhardt completing her work and labs without excuses. Staring into Microscopes for hours leaves her in excruciating pain, yet she preservers. She still works out with her Lacrosse team and cheers them on every game even though she has not physically been able to play.

Just recently, we were told the tumor is no longer responding to the trial medication and we would need to stop the clinical trial. Due to Alexis being diagnosed with a type of tumor that is mostly in children, getting treatment for Alexis is hard. Her age now disqualifies her for local clinical trials. That leaves us two options, either we travel to another city to be a part of an age appropriate clinical trial or we stay local and find ways to pay for the Medicine needed out of pocket.

We are in no way financially prepared to handle either of these costs and support programs for Alexis are limited due to her having a childhood cancer but having an adult age.

As a single mother of three, two in College and one in High School, I am prepared to do whatever it takes to give Alexis the best chance to continue to pursue her dreams until a cure can be found!! Even if that means laying down my pride and asking for help!

We need your help! Alexis needs your help!

While we do not know what the future holds, we do know that this battle is not hers but the Lords and in the words of her favorite song, “It ain’t over until God says it’s over. It ain’t over until God says it done!”

God Bless!

“Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see.”
