Jodi's Journey

My name is Cheri O'Day and my beautiful baby sister, Jodi MacDonald is battling a malignant astrocytoma brain tumor.  On April 14th, Jodi suffered a seizure at Pike High School and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.  Fast forward through a biopsy, an emergency craniotomy, a week in ICU and the hospital and now rehab at RHI.  The journey has been rough, but Jodi is a fighter.  Now she is ready to transition home, but the house is not ready.  As a result of the surgery, Jodi's left side is not moving.  The doctors are optimistic her movement will return, but for now she is dependent on help from others--primarily Mac.  In order to make everyday life easier for Jodi, she is going to need a wheelchair, a ramp, hospital bed, and possibly some construction on the main floor of her home.  Radiation will begin next week and last for at least six weeks with some oral chemotherapy.  Transporting her back and forth to radiation every day is not going to be easy and Mac is looking at renting a special van that will accommodate a wheelchair.

For those of you who know Jodi and Mac, you know their love story.  For over 25 years they have loved each other and created a beautiful family.  His dedication to her through this tough time is humbling.  I have witnessed LOVE in action.  He continues to tell her she is beautiful (and she is) and he is by her side every day assisting will all aspects of physical and emotional care.
