FARM to CUP Project: buy a pulpero

Donation protected
We are the San Francisco East-Bay Area
“FARM-TO-CUP GUATEMALA COFFEE PROJECT”

Our group was formed when we heard the stories of how little Guatemalan farmers are being paid for their coffee beans and how this has forced many to come to the US to support their families.

This past July eight of our group went to Palin Guatemala to see how we could help coffee farmers get more for their great coffee beans.

When we met with a local coffee cooperative we found there was an easy way to help them. They need a pulpero para cafe machine. A pulpero is a machine that takes the outer red part of the bean off as the first step of processing a coffee berry. This little machine will make a big difference in how much they get for their coffee beans. In their 50 year history as a cooperative they could never buy this machine.

So we are raising money to buy the cooperative a pulpero para cafe and we hope to have it bought and installed for the Fall harvest.

Our team was so touched by the stories of the Guatemalan coffee farmers and how hard they all work to provide for their families and friends.

After our meeting with them we made a promise that we would help them get a plupero this Fall. We don’t want to let them down like so many have in the past.  Please help us keep our promise.
