Thank you for supporting!

Started in 2012 as a celebration of the Woody Guthrie Centennial, this June marks the Fifth Anniversary of the Irvington Folk Festival. From June 12th through the 18th we have put together a patchwork of events for your enjoyment. Here are some highlights:

Sunday June 12 -- 1-4 pm. Join us on the lawn of the Bona Thompson Center (5350 E. University Ave) for a special performance by I.O.T.A. (Indiana Old Time Ambassadors). An afternoon of music and the possible appearance of a food truck or two.

Monday June 13 -- 7-10 pm. The first of a series of showcases for Indianapolis songwriters and performers. We kick this off with a special showcase at the 10 Johnson Street Coffee House.

Tuesday June 14 – 7-9 pm. In celebration of Indiana's Bicentennial, the Pete Seeger Lecture takes a special look at 200 years of music in Indiana. The Lecture features Martha Riley, author of Singing Indiana History, a collection of music recorded all over Indiana sung/played by hundreds of people. Indiana artist Mac Bellner will host and Martha will talk about the music of people of this state. Presentation to be held in the Irvington Library.

Wednesday June 15 – 7-9 pm. World Music Night at the Bona Thompson features an evening of Celtic/Irish music.

Thursday June 16 – 7-10 pm. The evening begins at Coal Yard Coffee (5547 Bonna Avenue) with a show from 7-8 pm, and continues with another showcase at Playground Productions from 8-10.

Friday June 17 – 7-10 pm. A Celebration of Juneteenth at the Downey Avenue Christian Church (111 South Downey Avenue) in an evening of music, stories and history.

Saturday June 18 – The Festival Finale! A full day in Ellenberger Park with our Children’s Festival from 11 am until 1 pm, the Alternative Gift Fair (noon-8 pm) featuring artisans from across Indiana, music on the Main Stage from 1 pm until dusk featuring Scott Ballantine & Andra Faye, The Punkin’ Holler Boys, Flatland Harmony Experiment and more!
