Cancer Benefit or Katrina Ryan

UPDATE: It's been 7 months since the stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis. That news was shocking and terrifying. Even though I am regularly told that I am "so strong," I don't always feel strong.

To date I've had 10 rounds of radiation in Jan & Feb. 2 days after the last radiation my hair fell out so I've been Rockin' the bald look. However the cancer Society did help me with getting a wig. I'm am nervous to try it out in public. When I get the nerve I'll post a picture.

Since Starting chem in Feb I've had 9 chemotherapy infusions with more to come. With meeting deductibles and co-pays, we are fast approaching the $100,000 dollar mark in medical bills! Whew! I had no idea it would cost so much to stay alive!

Richard is my ever present rock through all of this! Helping me to remember to take all my meds, stay hydrated, and rest when before I get too exhausted. And of course He is there to hold me and dry my tears when I feel overwhelmed.

The chemotherapy and radiation are working. We just know that the chemotherapy will continue indefinitely until I'm cancer free. Thank you for the prayers, love and light you send to Richard and I. (And the food!) We have been blessed through all of this what with learning how many people actually, truly care about us.

I will be better about writing updates in the future. I miss the contact I used to have with many of you.

On Saturday February 25th, we will be holding a 24 Hr Facebook Live Fundraising Event for our dear friend Katrina Matusek Ryan who is battling Stage 4 Colon Cancer.  

I think her Husband Richard Ryan said it best:

"Important stuff at the end.
My wonderful, talented, kind, beautiful, incredible wife Katrina Matusek Ryan is battling cancer. We have only been married a little less than 4 years now. In 2014 she was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer had 12 inches of her colon and 45 lymph nodes removed.
NOW, A few months ago she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer out of the blue & with a vengeance. Eight weeks later it's in both lungs, some in her liver &several in her brain. She just completed 10 rounds of a radiation and just finished her first week of whole body chemo.

Despite all this she is a true warrior with an indomitable spirit and she and are are determined to keep her healthy and strong and get her the treatment she needs until there is a cure. Now, some amazing people have offered to help with a fund raiser to help with the mounting medical bills. A week from tomorrow Josh Schultz and Keith J. Obit are putting together an online fundraiser on Facebook live. So many wonderful people have responded and offered their support, talent and help. Please follow and share the posts.
