On april 6th 2016 my son Jerome dunn (JP) at the young age of 22 had a massive stroke. This was so bad the it affected over half the right side of his brain. He had this stroke as he was making his rounds, around town (Jamestown) visiting people as Jerome is a very social person that knows just about everyone it seems, and all the people he meets he considers friends.
As a result from the stroke, he had to have a large portion of his skull removed to allow his brain to swell without further damage. He has been in ICU for a little over a month now, during this time he started to make some progress then he started to have seizures as a result of surgery. In order to get the seizures under control they decided it would be best for him to be sedated with a breathing tube. That seemed to working for a little while, then he ended up with a little pneumonia. after all this he started to having problems with his breathing and coughing, so the best thing for him at this point was to have a feeding tube and tracheostomy put which was done on 5-10-16.
Jerome has a very long road ahead of him and we as his family will be there every step of the way.
with the expense of traveling back and fourth a couple times a week and staying there on the weekends has become pretty costly, i am back at work now but only a couple days a week so i can be there with him also, but with not working as much it, It is hard to cover the cost of traveling back and fourth and and staying with him on the weekends, and still maintain all the normal monthly expenses that everyone has.
