George Moody's Medical Fund

As a local of Bluffton, George Moody has been a member of our community for many years, and since become a friend to many, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. In 2000, George and Maury Moody lost their daughter in a tragic car accident. A few short years later, George had to have a Heart Transplant. Never allowing any of these events to defeat him, George has since maintained a healthy life and has enjoyed doing what he loves.
Recently George went to MUSC in Charleston to have his annual check up, however, this specific scan revealed the next battle George is going to face. The scans revealed cancer in his lungs. The cancer is described as a type of Melanoma, further scans revealed 3 spots on his lungs, and other spots behind the ear, on the bladder and along his spine. Due to George's existing heart condition, normal treatments are not an option. Heart transplant recipients cannot undergo chemotherapy or radiation, such like what would normally be done. George and his wife will be going to Duke University Medical Center for a second opinion.
As a result of this outcome, we ask that the community come together to raise funds for George and his wife to travel to New York City to seek treatment from the Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center. As many of us know, George and Maury have both done so much for the community, we feel it is our turn to return the favor, by giving George a chance to receive the best medical treatment available without him having to worry about the cost.
Our goal is to raise enough money for George and his wife to travel to New York City and be able to comfortably remain there for the duration of the treatment, with no worry or concerns expect for beating this cancer!
The amount of money raised will all go towards medical expenses for George. Due to the fact that treatment needs to begin as soon as possible, we ask that donations be made sooner rather than later.
Though Bluffton may continue to grow, let's show the Moody's that we as a town can still come together and show our love and support.
