Ernie & Allie Zavala Medical Bills

Donation protected
Bonnie and I, as Directors of Fountain Of Blessings, Inc. (an Arizona 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation) are proud to spearhead this campaign on behalf of the Zavala family of Hereford, Arizona.  This family has spent a lifetime of serving God and blessing others -- now, they are in a desperate time of need of their own.  As you can read below through Sandy's testimony, her husband Ernie and their youngest daughter Allie (a senior in High School) have endured significant medical issues, the likes of which have wiped out any insurances they have had.  In order to get proper medical treatment, regular journeys to Tucson, Arizona (some 80 miles away from home) are required.  This family has one income -- Sandy works as a Hair Stylist when not on the road taking care of her family.  We are firm believers that God will provide for any need the Zavalas may have, and we were led to start this gofundme campaign on their behalf.

My husband Ernie was Diagnosed with type-1 diabetes when he was still in high school and that has led to several complications. He has had two kidney transplants, open heart surgery and it’s a constant battle to control his blood sugar. In June of 2013 he got a MRSA infection in his blood which then settled in his spine causing him to have emergency spine surgery. He spent 4 months in the hospital and rehab centers before coming home with the help of home health. He is currently doing better but he still struggles with quite a bit of health issues, and our family is still struggling with medical bills that have piled up over his years of care and treatment.

Our 19 year old daughter, Allie, was then diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis in September of 2014. This a rare disease in which immature Langerhans cells group together causing tumors that can attack the bones or organs. Although LCH is not a type of cancer, it is treated like cancer in which chemotherapy treatments are usually required. After two surgeries to remove the lesions caused by LCH that were problematic, Allie started her first chemo cycle in October that year on a treatment plan that lasted 12 weeks and then 6 weeks of maintenance therapy, which also consisted of a four hour drive both ways every Friday. In October of 2015 her disease seemed inactive enough to end treatment, so we did. Although, in February of this year a CT scan showed her disease was active again. Allie’s Oncologist quickly came up with a treatment plan which we have started now, it consists of five straight days of treatment once a month. This should last for about five months and then we’ll see how she has progressed. She’s a strong young lady and continues to fight each month, while still being a senior in high school. Her and her dads medical combined have caused me to become both of their caretakers, while still having a full time job. Our family just wants to say thank you to everyone who has helped us this far and we are grateful for all the blessings we have received, and we continue to gain strength everyday.

Monies raised through this campaign will help to offset the mountain of medical bills piling up on the Zavalas.  Donations made through this campaign may be eligible for a tax deduction as a donation to Fountain Of Blessings, Inc. (receipt provided upon request to [email redacted]).  Prayerfully consider helping out in some way for this family!  The need is great and immediate.  You may also direct donations through PayPal to our corporate email above (designate Zavala Medical Fund).  Thank you and God Bless You!
