Oceanna Got Hit By a Car

Donation protected

Oceanna has been my friend since Kindergarten. I can't say that about a lot of people. Or any at all. I'm Katie McGee and currently I'm worried sick about my oldest and most steadfast friend.
Oceanna made a status on facebook: "ALWAYS WEAR A FRICKIN HELMET"
and another one: "I was hit by a car"

Cue my guts freezing up. She had gotten hit almost head on, she said that they could have broken her leg. That "it felt like it went slow" like in the movies. She was just glad to be alive. When she came to, the driver was asking her questions to see how she was doing. She went to the hospital, got a CT scan and an Xray. They pushed her out of the hospital right away, leaving her to figure it out.
An incredible photographer for years and years now, my go-to for advice about boys, piercings, anxiety, the girl I gave bear hugs to until she asked me to stop about 15 years ago, could have died and then she didn't.

After six years of constantly having to survive, Oceanna was finally starting to feel like it could actually stay okay.
The day after the crash I got a snapchat from her. The goose-egg on her forehead had tripled in size. She pokes it and cracks a joke. "Who woulda thought I'd be sore the day after getting hit by a F***ing car".

What's going on:

Oceanna can't lift her arm, is having blurry/spinning vision frequently, She's trying to part her hair differently so she can hide her forehead and the bruising when she goes back to work. I haven't ever met anyone who works as hard as Oceanna. She works a hellish amount of hours, and she currently cannot perform basic tasks without being in pain (such as, but not limited to, standing up, reaching for things, doing anything quickly and efficiently, etc.) The work she had been doing with a chiropractor on an already injured neck (for the last 3 months) has been undone (just when she thought she was feeling better).
Oceanna is going to pursue a settlement with the driver's insurance company. She is taking some time off work to rest, and has scheduled an appointment with her Primary Care Provider, hopefully to get evaluated for temporary disability, and to see if there's anything she can do about her vision, the pain in her jaw and shoulder/arm. Her yellow bike is mangled. Oceanna is still paying off debts, and now has hospitals and insurance to figure out how to pay for, all the while trying to keep up with cost of living. By the way, because Oceanna is missing a couple days of work, she no longer qualifies for state health insurance.
It's just one thing after another.

What I'm asking for:
I had to set an amount with GoFundMe, but what you and I are trying to do is make sure Oceanna has food, rent, utilities, doctors visits, chiropractor work, anything she needs for cost of living taken care of. Oceanna already struggles with making rent and paying bills, even with the amount of labor she does, and now she's missing work. She will have to go back soon.
This is an easy way for family, friends, and strangers to help her get better, to get back to being herself, to give her a break from a hellish SIX YEARS.

Oceanna has walked through six years of It's Just One Thing After Another, and it's not fair.

Oceanna didn't want to write this. She hates asking for help. I told her today that it's time to take care of herself, and the first way we can do that is by letting everyone who loves her, show her how worthy of care she is.

If you can share this, we would really appreciate it. I know everyone says that, but sharing really is the second best thing you can do. Thank you.

If you can donate, literally anything. $1, $100, doesn't matter. You are showing Oceanna how much good there can be, and that it wont always be like this. Thank you.

I'm so glad she's alive.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you.
