Hello Everyone, I am Laura's oldest daugher Kristen, However, I am establishing this "Go Fund Me" page on behalf of The Seelinger & Lattanzio families.
Mom noticed a very unusual, hard & abnormal lump on the side of her throat on March 25, 2016, She took the appropriate steps to have this lump examined by her doctors. She was sent for a CAT scan of that area on March 29, 2016 followed by a biopsy of the node in her neck.
On March 30, 2016 (Her late father's birthday), she heard the word that absolutley no one wants to hear. She had "CANCER" of the throat and Neck. At that point, depression, anxiety and worry set in. My sisters and I, along with our extended family, assured her in a positive manner that everything would be fine and to "keep positive and strong" until we had further information. On April 25, 2016 she was sent for a PET scan to make sure the cancer had not spread to any other areas of her body. By the grace of God, the cancer is contained to that area only and was told by her oncologist that it was "treatable". THANK YOU GOD!
She will be going for extensive radiation treatments 5 days a week for 8 weeks. This will cause severe burning to her throat and she will not be able to swallow solid foods. Therefore, a feeding tube was put in on May 5th, 2016, so she has proper nourishment during her treatments. She will also be going for chemo treatments once a week, every three weeks, which start on May 11,2016. The chemo port was put in on May 9,2016..
As of May 11, 2016, my mom will no longer be able to work for at least 6 months, maybe longer depending on the healing process. Her insurances covers some of the charges, however, the astronomical co-pays, medications and hospital stays have already added extra financial stress and the treatments haven't even begun yet! The last thing my mother should be crying and worrying about is money and how she is going to pay for all of this. My sisters and I, along with our extended family, will help as much as we can.
If you know my mom, she would give the shirt off her back, no questins asked, for anyone in need. She is a mother of 3 daughters, and a Grandmother of 2 amazing little boys who love her very much and she loves them "to the moon and back". :)
The donations will go towards her medical expenses, and any other financial responsibilities that will burden her while she is fighting this deadly disease. No donation is to small, and if you cannot donate, we ask for as many prayers as possible.
