In Honor of Gerry Myklebust

It is with great sorrow that we had to say goodbye to one of the greatest men that God ever created. Gerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, coworker and friend to so many.

His love for life was contagious and his heart was made of gold. He gave his life to his community and never slowed down. He honorably served our country with the US Army and dedicated his life to the Tukwila Police department where he retired from just a few years ago. He was the first K-9 officer for the department and had a passion for serving those around him. Gerry then went on to become a security officer for Safeco where he was able to work and enjoy his love for baseball.

In the past few months, Gerry had traveled the world. Something he's always wanted to do. He went to Japan a few months ago and most recently, was in Norway where his family roots are. It was his lifelong dream to go to his ancestral village and get to know his family there.

While visiting his family in Norway, he suddenly collapsed yesterday, in the early morning. He told a family member that he was filling the freezer with halibut so that they could have a fish fry for Norway's Constitution Day on May 17th. He bought a new suit to wear to celebrate Norway and the finding of his roots and Norwegian family. It was just a short time later, that he was found unconscious by a family member and unfortunately, he could not be saved.

It's a lesson that things can change in just a second and to make sure you cherish those around you because you never know when your time is up.

Gerry was a man of integrity, love and joy. He put a smile on every person he came in contact with. He was a humble, selfless man who only wanted to the best for others. Someone that is rare and a person you will always remember and can't wait to see on the other side.

We love you Gerry. Thank you for being you.

*This fund has been set up to assist his wife and children with the expenses of getting to Norway so that they can take care of things. Airfare and fees to get into the country. Any support is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
