Bring Marlee home for 1st Birthday!

Donation protected

Marlee was hit by a car last night , Monday 5/2 after being her normal crazy self and wanting to be ahead of her sister Carpup (aka Carlee) for a short ride in the car to go "bye bye" with her Aunt Lisa and sissy Emilee and unfortunately slipped through the gate.  Here she is below courtesy of a kind person by the name of Carmen who works at Avon Lake Animal Clinic and sent this out at midnight once Marlee was coming out of sedation from xrays and as you see, although pretty banged up she is anxious to come home and be with the family again.

We were EXTREMELY fortunate that Marlee only endured a shattered leg and of course will be very sore from the impact all over.

After a consult with the vet, Dr. Krupka at Avon Lake XXXX and reviewing the x-rays together, options that were provided was a very expensive surgery and/or amputation to the left leg.

After continued discussions with Dr. Krupka about her recovery and what quality of life Marlee would have if a decision was made to go the route of surgery, a quick decision was made like any pet owner would do for their beloved dog and opted with the surgery.

With alot of love from everyone and extensive rehabilitation for Marlee, good news is that she will pretty much have a full recovery and the same quality of life back given that she is not even 1 years old yet and is still a puppy!

As I write this, Marlee is currently in surgery which not only is requiring hardware such as plates and screws to put her leg back togther but might require a bone graft as well from another place on her little bruised body.  In addition, she will require rehabilitaiton after about 8-10 weeks and then another surgery 4-5 months out to remove the hardware from her leg.

For those of you who know Craig Collins, there is a story behind how Marlee became a part of the family.......

After Craig's stroke 4 years ago, his Chocolate lab Abbe strangely had a stroke a few years later and unfrotunately due to the quality of life Abbe would have had without use of her back legs it was best to have her laid to rest. After this, his daughter Madee saved up all of her gift cards from various special occassions and approached his Dad (aka Papa) and mentioned she would like for him to buy back the $450.00 in gift cards to buy a puppy for her Dad for his birthday as a surprise.

Well, Marlee's first birthday is this Sunday and as you see below in the picture, a few weeks later Madee's wish came true and her Dad received a cute little puppy who we have now come to know and adore as Marlee Collins , the 4 legged dog (soon to be 3 for awhile) who thinks she is a lap dog at 75 lbs :)

In the picture on the landing page for this account, this is Marlee greeting those parents  who drop of child enrollments in the drop box for a small organization Craig manages known as Preschool Sports that sits outside the fence of Marlee's home.

In order to get Marlee's health back so she can welcome all visitors at the Collins household again, there is a very expensive cost that comes with this.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 not knowing what the 2nd surgery will cost and/or the cost of rehabilitation. The cost of the 1st surgery is $4,800.   We as well were approached at the clinic by a police officer due to the car that hit Marlee filed a report as there was some "minor" damage to his car.  This is still unknown as well as the kind officer will check back this weekend to provide additional details.

Should we meet this goal and/or exceed the goal and not all $10k is needed, any unused monies will be put in an account at that time that will be provided to the animal clinic should there be an accident such as Marlee's in the future and another family might be in need.

If you would consider donating/contributing to this fund to help lessen the financial burden of the cost of Marlee's rehabilitation and her surgeries it would mean the world to the Collins family.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.  We absolutely could not get through this without.  And a special shout out to Dr. Krupka and his staff at Avon Lake Animal Clinic for giving the love that Marlee needs until she recovers and taking such great care of all us last night.

Let's bring Marlee home so her first birthday can be celebrated back at home with alot of love and laughter from the family.....and of course a newly designed house plan so this does not happen again :)

We will continue to post updates and pictures as things progress with Marlee and of course once all bills are paid for, we will be provide updates as well.

Lots of love and thank you again~
