Ovarian Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
My name is Natasha, I live in Perth, Western Australia.

I try my best to stay positive and wont put depressing photos on here but will share a few phots of my children and grand children and my wonderful husband who is my rock.

I am 50 years old.   I am a wife, a sister, a daughter and a mother of two and a grandmother of 3 beautiful grand children.

I am raising the funds for myself as I want to live a lot longer and enjoy my life with my children and grand children and family.  I have had a bit of a crappy life as I was in a childrens home from the age of 7 where I lived till I was 15.

I became a single mum at the age of 16 which I never regret but was difficult at first.  My first marriage ended badly as my ex husband ended up devoping a Paranoia Pyschosis which was very traumatic for the last 5 years I was with him.

It wasn't until I was 39 years old that I really started to experience happiness, becoming a grandmother and meeting a good man that is now my wonderful husband.

Two of the most important people in my life (my children)

At the age of 48 I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer stage 3B.  I was devasted as this disease is so hard to diagnose and most women aren't aware until too late and most don't live past 5 years after diagnoses.

This article written by West Australian Newspaper just after I had finished my second lot of chemotherapy.

Initially I had debulking surgery removing my ovaries, falopian tubes appendix and some of my peritineal lining, followed by aggressive chemothermapy, hoping for the best i thought I would beat the cancer the first time.    I lost my hair and have been left with many side effects, such as painful feet, fatique amongst other things.

(me and my beautiful grandaughter during my first lot of treatment)

7 months later after treatment I had a reoccurence of my cancer and had a further 6 months of chemotherapy with six months of maintenance chemo till December last year.

However just 7 months again after finishing treatment I have now had another reoccurence.  My ongologist wants to me go through more chemo therapy and maintenance, but I am scared of the consequences as the more treatment I have the weaker my immune system becomes and the more chemo resistant my body becomes.

I initially was hopeful to go onto immune therapy but I don't meet the criterea and to do that treatment is extremely expensive (this cost $10,000 per month) and would need it for a year or more but would have been free on the trial which I was rejected from.

I have been doing a lot of researh  as there is a Hyperthermia treatment that I can receive in Germany at a cancer clinic that have had some amazing results.   I have been recieved information from the clinic that it would cost us $5000 Euros a week (approx $7250 AUD a week) and I would need 6 weeks of treatment.  The extra $$$ would be for air aires (as I would need my husband to travel with me given my current health)

There are no side effects and it also builds up your immune system which will give me a fighting chance if it ever comes back in the future... but I am very excitied that this may be the treatment that cures me for a very long time if not for ever.  This treatment is not available in Australia

The treatment is heating up the body till it is just borderline fever which kills the cancer cells rather than using toxic chemo...

I am hoping to raise these funds very quickly as the longer I leave means the cancer can grown out of control and move to other parts of my body which is a very scary thought.

This obviously means the world to me to have this treatment as I cant imagine not seeing my grandchildren grow up and share happy memories with them.  I love my life and my family and like anyone want to be free of this disease and enjoy what life I have left.

Words can not express how grateful I would be to have your support so I can get this treatment...

My husband used to work in for the Banking industry and when I became ill he had to take time off to take me to all my treatment and then his employer put him on report for not reach "their targets" and were going to sack him even though they new I was going through chemotherapy and I couldn't work.     Eventually he was unable to keep that job and now mows lawns to earn money as this is more secure but a lot less money.  I have been unable to work due to my illness.  He is 54 years old and working a very physical job which I worry about also... We had to sell our previous home and downsize as we could'nt affort it and really just paying what needs to be paid.

Please make any donation big or small I would appreciate anything that  you can to help me... I am NOT generally a person that asks for help but I am now as I want to live longer and see my beautiful grand children grow up, watch them play sport, play with them. Cuddle and love them and hopefully see them one day get married  They mean the world to me.
