2019 Chattanooga Women's March

For the last 2 years Chattanooga has joined with other cities across the nation and the world in resisting hate, giving voice to women's rights, and intentionally lifting up the voices of marginalized women. This year we will do more. This year we will not only resist and raise our voices, we will celebrate the triumphs we have made and make actionable plans for the future- a future full of possibilities for ALL women.
The theme for the 2019 Chattanooga Women's March is "WE Dissent" in honor of the work Ruth Bader Ginsburg has done to protect the rights of women, and to proclaim that we do not agree with the choices our government leaders are making.
A lot of planning and organizing has gone into this march. There are some awesome women behind the planning and fundraising, including JM Lawrence, Maria Smith, Ginger Moss, and Victoria Bryan. Collectively, we make up the organizing committee and have been working diligently to ensure the best event possible.
To hold the event in it's entirety, it would cost over $3,000.00 total in fees. Given the inability and unwillingness of the City of Chattanooga to wave any of these fees, and the time frame we have until the march, we are aware this is a difficult goal to achieve. Therefore, we are focusing on the rally itself, which will take place in Coolidge Park on January 19, 2019 from 11am-3pm and lowering the fundraising goal to $1,500.00. Here is a breakdown of the costs involved:
Park rental fees $1,000
Insurance $315
PA system $185
Website fees $48
Backup generator $100
Please consider donating towards our goal. We will be sure to keep you updated on every dollar spent. All funds will be withdrawn into an account Maria Smith and placed into a PayPal account for JM Lawrence to disburse funds to the appropriate cost. Any remaining funds, should there be any, will be used for next year's event.
