History, Integrity, Truth, Scripture. These four ideas are at the heart and center of the work of Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry. As a mission project of the American Association of Lutheran Churches, Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry's work is to provide on-site pastoral care to the students, staff, faculty, and administration of the collegiate communities in Columbia, Missouri.

The Christian message is one of great historical importance.  For almost 2000 years Christians have proclaimed freedom to prisoners of this sinful world through Jesus.

It is part of the integrity of our message that we admit our own failings and challenges.

We also realize that there is such a thing as objective truth.  It's Christianity's willingness to explore truth and evaluate the claims of different world views which has historically pushed scientific, artistic, literary, and philosophical developments.

Yet, Christians recognize that it is in Scripture alone that we find a definitive revelation of God and His Will.

We bring this recognition of history, integrity, truth, and Scripture to the academic communities in Columbia, Missouri through on-site pastoral care, Bible discussion groups, and day-to-day friendships with people like those pictured above, in our international gatherings.

Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is funded by contributions from our supporters, such as the Wittenberg Door 300, our regular contributors. Last year our partners provided the basic operating expenses of this ministry. However, our staff did not receive any reimbursement of housing, medical care, or any salary. During 2018 we wish to add housing to the package. Please help bring on-site pastoral care to our academic communities. Please help us spread the good news of Jesus to the many nations represented in those communities.

Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization. Your contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.  If you wish to make your contribution go farther, send it in the form of a check to our postal address, 503 E. Update May 21, 2018.
People often ask me about campus ministry during the summer months. After all, aren't the students gone? Nothing is going on, right? That isn't the case at all. However, we have a very different student population. Lots of people come into the community to work in the intensive English program. Other international scholars and students are coming in as well. People with a student visa can arrive 30 days before their responsibilities begin. That pushes many arrivals up to the last two weeks of July! Other people are hanging around town while they get to the end of their visa stay. There's plenty to be done. Also, remember that in our on-site pastoral care we include faculty, staff, and administration members. These people are hard at work all year.
Please keep remembering Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry in prayer and in your giving. This is a great time to invite me to tell your church congregation or other group about the ministry opportunities in our community. We've got a long way to go to meet our financial goal this year! Please share this with your friends and family. I am not paid by the University. This is an independent campus ministry. We're really glad to be at work in Columbia Missouri!

Here we go with " giving Tuesday." Thanks to the great support of our many friends we've been able to be there with on-site pastoral care around the collegiate communities in Columbia Missouri. To get to the end of this year's fundraising goal we need about $800. More will make it easier to deal with some special end of the year needs in the way of property taxes. Please consider pitching in and sharing this ministry with friends, family, and local churches. See our full site at www.wittenbergcomo.com. yes, we are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit.

11/16/18 Update:
Good morning to all my friends and ministry supporters! I hope you appreciate the low-key fundraising that I do for Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry. I try to keep appeals for funding to a minimum and let people know what's going on in terms of care for our campus communities. My latest news is at https://www.wittenbergcomo.com/blog/the-latest-wittenberg-door-newsletter-is-here - go see about it there.
As we approach the end of the calendar year, I wanted to thank everyone for helping get us through yet another year of care for souls. At the start of the year we began asking for supporters to pay not only the basic operational expenses of the ministry, but also to help cover housing. Thanks to having no mortgage and no expensive critical needs repairs, those actual costs have been pretty low. I'm happy to report my projection - if we receive about $1,200 more in support prior to the end of the year the goal will have been met! We don't yet have our last batch of utility bills for the year, but it looks like we are really that close to your contributions meeting operational expenses and housing for 2018.
Your help and support is critical in keeping this work going. You are bringing real, live on-site trained pastoral care to anyone within the collegiate communities of Columbia Missouri.
A fair warning - next year I plan to start asking for help with medical insurance premiums and copays. The following year I hope to score a salary also! Making all this work with a few part-time jobs and savings isn't easy, but we can do it for a bit longer, as the news and success spreads.
Thanks again for all your help and support during this year! Just a reminder, Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization. We will be sending out tax letters in January.

School's back in session and we have plenty going on around Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry! We've continued our regular campus Bible Discussions, though we can add more as needed. We're also back to having our dinner and conversation evenings every other Friday, with some new families in the mix! We are also working out the nitty gritty details about how to do theology in a local restaurant/bar on Tuesday evenings. All that Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry does is funded by the generosity of our contributors. There's always room for more people at our activities and in the Wittenberg Door 300, our group of regular supporters. Come aboard!

It's been a busy few weeks around Wittenberg Door! We've just returned from a trip to Parshall, North Dakota, where I had the honor of preaching and sharing about the ministry at two church congregations. This weekend, visiting with our supporting church in Ellis, Kansas. Meanwhile, English coaching and Bible studies are ongoing in Columbia, We're gearing up for the international welcome activities in the middle of August and then the start of regular classes on all local campuses in late August. Please consider regular financial support to keep us bringing on-site pastoral care to people in these academic environments!
