2018 Wittenberg Door Campus Ministr

Donation protected
History, Integrity, Truth, Scripture. These four ideas are at the heart and center of the work of Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry. As a mission project of the American Association of Lutheran Churches, Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry's work is to provide on-site pastoral care to the students, staff, faculty, and administration of the collegiate communities in Columbia, Missouri.

The Christian message is one of great historical importance.  For almost 2000 years Christians have proclaimed freedom to prisoners of this sinful world through Jesus.

It is part of the integrity of our message that we admit our own failings and challenges.

We also realize that there is such a thing as objective truth.  It's Christianity's willingness to explore truth and evaluate the claims of different world views which has historically pushed scientific, artistic, literary, and philosophical developments.

Yet, Christians recognize that it is in Scripture alone that we find a definitive revelation of God and His Will.

We bring this recognition of history, integrity, truth, and Scripture to the academic communities in Columbia, Missouri through on-site pastoral care, Bible discussion groups, and day-to-day friendships with people like those pictured above, in our international gatherings.

Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is funded by contributions from our supporters, such as the Wittenberg Door 300, our regular contributors. Last year our partners provided the basic operating expenses of this ministry. However, our staff did not receive any reimbursement of housing, medical care, or any salary. During 2018 we wish to add housing to the package. Please help bring on-site pastoral care to our academic communities. Please help us spread the good news of Jesus to the many nations represented in those communities.

Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization. Update May 21, 2018.
People often ask me about campus ministry during the summer months. After all, aren't the students gone? Nothing is going on, right? That isn't the case at all. However, we have a very different student population. Lots of people come into the community to work in the intensive English program. Other international scholars and students are coming in as well. People with a student visa can arrive 30 days before their responsibilities begin. That pushes many arrivals up to the last two weeks of July! Other people are hanging around town while they get to the end of their visa stay. There's plenty to be done. Also, remember that in our on-site pastoral care we include faculty, staff, and administration members. These people are hard at work all year.
Please keep remembering Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry in prayer and in your giving. This is a great time to invite me to tell your church congregation or other group about the ministry opportunities in our community. We've got a long way to go to meet our financial goal this year! Please share this with your friends and family. I am not paid by the University. This is an independent campus ministry. We're really glad to be at work in Columbia Missouri!
