2018 Puppets in Prague Fundraiser
Having made string puppets (with help) in my woodshop classes as a kid, as an apprentice in 1993 and then again as an apprentice (this time with polymer and ceramic clays) in 2005, I was aware that the city of Prague was practically synonymous with string puppetry. In late 2011, I saw this Puppets In Prague Workshop Video and was practically jumping on the inside. I wanted to attend so badly that I was physically fidgeting with eagerness for 3 out of the 3:43 minutes the video played (and for about an hour or so after that.) Every year the workshop has been on my mind and when I saw that the workshop co-owner, Leah Gaffen announcing the applications for the 2018 workshops I got sick of prolonging it. I filled out the application and submitted photos of my work.
A few days later, on November 8th, 2017 I recieved an e-mail from Leah Gaffen confirming that I have officially been accepted into the Puppets in Prague Workshop for June 2018! This is an honor that only 12 out of the many applicants are given (the website even says that many people from all different art fields apply to the workshop.) Attending the Puppets in Prague workshop is a dream for puppet makers and artists across the globe and I have an opportunity to live that dream. However I need funding to:
Pay the workshop fee of about $800.00
Pay for Lodging at a hotel within walking distance of the workshop that has been arranged by the workshop coordinators
Pay for food and other expenses for the 6-weeks duration of the course.
Pay for plane tickets.
I know with your help, I can do it! Even if you can only donate one dollar, it helps!
