Dennis Nelson   SIOUX FALLS, SD

I am attempting to raise money to help pay for medical bills and expenses as I was recently diagnosed with cancer. I don't know yet how long this will last as I am continuing my inevitable road to recovery. Please help if you can. It will be greatly appreciated! I will post updates on my recovery as they become available. If you prefer, our mailing address is 3004 S. West Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57105.

Update 10

We wanted to let everyone know what has been happening since my last update.

I was recently hospitalized with chest pains and shortness of breath. After some scans and X-rays it has been determined that my lung cancer has returned. Thankfully (for lack of a better word) it has stayed contained in it's initial location. There is no evidence of it spreading to other parts of my body at this time. Surgery to completely remove it is not an option and would be considered too risky. They are calling it a recurring cancer. I will begin having chemo treatments again next week.

Please continue to keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers. I will pass on updates as they become available.

We met with the doctor to go over the results of the PET scan that was performed last Friday and an MRI that was done on Monday. I am pleased to report that my cancer is in remission and that there is no further evidence of any additional cancer at this time! We will continue to monitor this and have periodic scans performed. I still have some side effects and after effects to deal with but they should subside in the coming months. Thanks to everyone for their support, prayers, well wishes and positive thoughts! Dennis

Update 8

We met with the doctor to go over the results of a CT scan that was done on Monday. It shows that the tumor in my lung had shrunk and the part of my lung that had collapsed because of the tumor is returning to normal. There is also no evidence of the cancer spreading at this time. He wants to hold off doing any additional chemo treatments at this time and let the existing chemo and radiation continue working. He will re-evaluate in August. Thanks to everyone for their continued support, well wishes and positive thoughts! Dennis

I'm holding positive thoughts for you. My mother was recently diagnosed with a blood cancer, so I am now on the front line on this disease, although she has no treatment options. Stay strong!
