Mike’s Brain Tumor Removal And Recovery

Donation protected
Over the course of the last few months daddy noticed a hissing sound in his ear and an inability to walk straight, through a door way without stubbing his toe or even walking through it without rubbing his left shoulder. Needless to say, left turns were difficult. A doctor follow up appointment showed no signs of concern until he passed out one night and the paramedics were called. There was, of course, serious concern at this time, so he requested an MRI. After passing out several more times, the urgency grew to find out was wrong. I was scared to death on Thanksgiving when I literally caught him while he walking up my drive way. Test results for the scheduled MRI on Friday were given almost immediately and doctors said to get to the hospital NOW! Dad had a golf ball sized tumor in the lower left side of his brain- in his cerebellum. He was admitted to ICU where many more tests, scans and ultrasounds were done to get to the bottom of this and make sure there weren’t any more. He was bed ridden to help keep the pressure from building in his brain. The neurologists were amazed that he was still able to walk, talk, and function as well as he was, but to be safe, he had to stay off his feet. Immediate surgery was scheduled for that Tuesday- until an abnormal heart rhythm was revealed. Once the cardiologist and anesthesiologists cleared him after an echocardiogram, surgery was pushed to Thursday- until his Vitamin K count was off. Dad’s coagulating agents in his blood were not cooperating so surgery was again postponed. After over a week in ICU, after over a week of praying, daddy had his surgery on Saturday. He did it! The doctors did it- God did it. The tumor removal could not have gone better! We were prepped for a drain in his brain to reduce swelling and life support but he didn’t need either of those! Let the healing begin. Soon physical therapy will be starting up and those hospital bills will begin to be popping in. Like anyone, he is worried about paying those bills and the ones my parents currently have. I’m just asking for a little help for them to help get them through this financial burden and give them one less thing to worry about. If nothing else, prayers for healing and a quick recovery that I can share with him are appreciated. Thank you!
