Avery Baker

Many of you may know Avery’s story, for those that do not I will be brief. Avery is 23 years old and has Epileptic and Non Epileptic Seizures. This began when she was around 16 years old and has progressed as time has gone on. Avery has always been a fighter and was not going to let this disease rob her of a good life. She has worked hard and climbed up the ladder at work as a property manager. She is a rockstar at leasing and management. Her only downfall was these terrible seizures. Avery has lost positions before because of her seizures but she continued to fight and work until this year. In August she was forced to go on medical leave and was later fired. I look at this as a blessing in disguise because Avery needs to fully focus on getting better and her doctors agree. She is currently filing for disability which we all know is a waiting game. The most important thing right now is for Avery to not lose her health insurance coverage which is scheduled to expire on September 30th. She can pay for the Cobra coverage which runs $500-600 per month. If she does the Cobra coverage she will keep her same benefits that she has right now. This is important at least in these next few months because we have finally put together a team of doctors that we are happy with and she is seeing on a very regular basis.  We are simply asking for help to afford this coverage until we figure out what to do. As of today her coverage ends in 6 days. EEK! We finally feel like we are on the right track with the treatment Avery is receiving. It would be devastating for us to be told that we couldn’t continue because of insurance coverage.  Please help if you can.
